Description
The northern footpath out towards the Mersey walks you mostly through agricultural land. Large numbers of Fazan can sometimes be seen, as well as Crvenonoga jarebica both presumably released gamebirds, though the native Trčka is also seen here. In winter, Sjeverna Zeba is occasionally seen, as well as the more common finches and hedgerow birds.
The path alongside the Mersey adds good views of estuary, mudflat and some reedbeds. Waders of various sorts are seen, particularly in winter, when very large counts can occur particularly of Žalar Cirikavac (sometimes 10,000+) and Crnorepa Muljača (often 1,000+) and Kulik Blatarić (often hundreds), as well as Crvenonoga guska. Herons and egrets are likely, occasionally Čaplja Govedarica. A telescope can be useful to pick out birds on the mud in the centre of the channel or far shore.
The western path out to the shore goes through woodland where Šojka, Golub Dupljaš and Mali Drozd might be found.

Access
Hale Head is located south of the village of Hale. There is a pay-and-display carpark at Hale Village Park, or you can park sensibly in the village along the roadside where permitted. Press P on the map for directions.
Food and drink is served at the Childe of Hale pub which is close to the start or end of the 5,5 km circular route.
It is about an hour on the bus from either Liverpool or Runcorn to Hale Village where this walk starts.
