Description
Messingham Sand Quarries has a tick list of 180 bird species. Two hides available. Reedbeds provide nest sites for Trstenjak cvrkutić, Trstenjak Rogožar, Svilorepa and Močvarna Strnadica. Bukavac is a regular visitor. Winter wildfowl such as Zviždara, Patka Žličarka, Glavata Patka, Kržulja and Patka Kreketaljka. In 2001 Američka zelena čaplja showed up here.

Access
Just south of Scunthorpe and the M180 motorway. Click on the P in the map to get directions. Exit the reserve with care as its a fast straight road. The circular walking route indicated on the map is about 3 km long.
