Description
Blean Woods is a patchwork of traditional coppice woodland, high forest, glades and heathland. The mix of habitats attracts lots of different bird species. In the dense thickets birds like Slavuj nest. Some areas of the woodland are made up almost entirely of large oaks and beech trees. Here you can observe Veliki Djetlić and Mali djetao. As night falls on summer evenings you can see the territorial display flight of the Šumska šljuka. The breeding birds of the Blean Woods include other typical deciduous woodland species as Kobac and Šumska sova. The Leganj breeds in more open, recently felled areas. Sokol Lastavičar is often seen on passage.

RSPB Blean Woods is located just northwest of Canterbury. Free parking from dusk till dawn. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. Different walking routes from 3 - 12 km. Indicated on the map is the Blean Woods Red Trail, a 4.3 km loop trail.
