Description
The reservoir is shallow, having only a maximum depth of 9m (30’), which makes it very attractive to both dabbling and diving ducks. It occasionally attracts less common wildfowl, such as Veliki ronac and Crna patka and Riđogrli Gnjurac, Crnogrli Gnjurac and Ušati gnjurac. Waders are often present in spring and autumn, including Pršljivac, Crnokrila Prutka, Šljuka Kokošica, Crvenonoga Prutka, Oštrigar and Kulik Sljepčić. Scaling Dam can also be an excellent place to watch raptors and, from the hide, an eye should always be kept on the moorland plateau and valleys for Eja Strnjarica, Eja Močvarica, Mali Sokol and Sivi Sokol and, if you are extremely lucky, Crvena lunja or Škanjac gaćaš. The site is also good for summer visitors, such as Kukavica, Smeđoglavi Batić and Brezov Zviždak, and residents like Crnoglavi Batić, Gorska Pastirica and Poljski Vrabac.
There is a hide for birdwatching where you might see Vivak, Siva Guska, Kanadska guska, Žutokljuni Labud and many wading birds.
