Description
Talybont Reservoir has two bird hides, car parking, and a nice cafe in the village. Shallow water, marshland and exposed mud at the top end attract dabbling ducks, waders especially Šumska šljuka, Šljuka Kokošica, Mala Šljuka, Siva Čaplja, Mala Bijela Čaplja and Kokošica in autumn and winter. The woods have Crnoglava Muharica, Škanjac, Šumska sova, Brgljez, Kratkokljuni puzavac and Leganj. In the surrounding streams look for Gorska Pastirica, Vodenkos and Crnoglavi Batić. And on the moors may be Veliki Pozviždač, Troprsti Zlatar, Red Grouse, Gavran, Livadna Trepetljka and Sivkasta Bjeloguza . The nearby canal has Vodomar.

Access
Between Brecon and Abergavenny. Take the B4558 and turn south in Talybont village. A regular bus service runs through the village, from which it's a 2 mile walk to the reservoir. The circular route up to Tor y Foel is 5 km, with 250 metres of ascent. Stout boots, a hiking pole, snacks, a drink and waterproof clothing are recommended.
