Description
The Duck Town Boardwalk snakes along the shoreline of the Currituck Sound, bisects maritime deciduous forest, maritime evergreen forest, a willow swamp and marshland, providing a year-round support system for a multitude of birds (ducks, herons, egrets, waders, songbirds). The boardwalk is ideal for observing and photographing the birds present. The Currituck Sound is part of the Atlantic Flyway, so migration seasons (spring and fall) bring even more variety.

Access
The Duck Town Boardwalk is located right in the heart of Duck, North Carolina. It sits behind the Duck Town Park, stretching more than a mile along the Currituck Sound. If you're driving into Duck (from Corolla, Southern Shores, or Kitty Hawk), simply follow NC‑12 (Duck Road) — the only main road through town. The boardwalk runs parallel to this road on the sound side. Once you reach the center of Duck, look for signs for Duck Town Park or the Waterfront Shops. Both provide direct access to the boardwalk. The 1.5 mile-long boardwalk is wide and lined with benches, making it ideal for relaxed birdwatching.
