Description
Bistraka is a small lake between the river Struma and the A3 motorway. Its a great place for törpegém in the summer. Other birds you can observe include Kis kócsag, Fekete gólya, Fehér gólya, Barátréce, Fülemüle, Barna rétihéja Jégmadár, Gyurgyalag, partifecske, Balkáni fakopáncs and Nádirigó. Seasonal migration brings flocks of swallows, wagtails, and warblers, while wintering ducks and geese use the area as resting grounds. The area has also seen rarities like Cigányréce and Kék vércse.

Access
Bistraka lake is located south of the town of Blagoevgrad. It has easy access next to a road. Press P on the map for directions. You can make a 2,5 km circular walk around the lake and also walk to the dams in the Struma river.
