Description

The Noitzscher Heide area has been known since East German times thanks to the Rotes Haus (Red House) restaurant, and it attracts mushroom hunters especially in autumn. Within a relatively small area, you'll find various wooded areas with different types of trees. From pure pine forests to mixed woodlands and deciduous forests, the area is extensively managed as a commercial forest.

The wildlife found here is typical of the region, ranging from the Fekete harkály and Sárgarigó to Hamvas rétihéja. With luck, you might also spot deer, hares, and traces of wild boar and wolves. The call of the Búbos banka has also been heard.

To the north and east lie fields and meadows which are also well worth exploring. All in all, the intensive forestry leaves little room for wildlife. Every bird sighted here feels like a goldmine.
