Description
Zalew Szałe is a good place to observe migrating ducks, such as Fütyülő réce, Nyílfarkú réce and Csörgo réce. On the reservoir itself, you can spot many species of gulls, divers, and grebes, such as Sarki búvár, Sztyeppi sirály and Viharsirály, which breeds here. Rarities such as kékcsőrű réce, Kis goda and Jeges sirály have appeared on the reservoir.
Szałe isn't just a reservoir, it encompasses everything surrounding it. In the surrounding Winiary forest, you can spot interesting species like Fekete harkály, Erdei pacsirta and Hegyi fakusz. partifecske and gulls nest readily on the slopes near the reservoir, and in the local fields, you can observe Bíbic and Nyaktekercs. Zalew Szałe is located directly southeast of Kalisz. The easiest way to park is at one of the nearby parking lots or use public transport (Pokrzywnicka Tama), where city buses run. Press a P on the map for directions. The route shown on the map is about 10 km.
