Description
The mud-areas and shallow water areas, the slowly flowing water and near-natural shores with reeds, adjacent reed meadows and floodplain forests as well as the gravel islands make the Flachsee a water bird reserve of national importance. 58 different bird species have bred here. A total of 212 different bird species have been observed on the Flachsee. You'll find a nice little birdhide at the reservoir (Flachsee). The hide offers perfect views for birdwatching. You'll maybe find following kind of birds: Different ducks (especially during wintertime), waders, Kárókatona, cserregő nádiposzáta, Bíbic, Pajzsoscankó, Nyári lúd, Szürke gém.

Access
Near the village Unterlunkhofen, there is a parking lot, situated directly at the river Reuss. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. From there you can walk or bycicle the way up to the bird hide. (approx. 20 mins.) Opening Hours of the bird hide are 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. from April 15 to September 15 and 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. from September 16 to April 14. The circular route that is shown on the map is about 7 km.
