Around lake Mattmarksee you can search for one of the most beautiful mountainbirds, the Hajnalmadár, which likes to live near water. Other birds you can find here are Havasi szürkebegy, hegyi billegető and Havasi sarlósfecske. From the lake you can walk up the mountain and see Havasi csóka fouraging in groups near the "refugio", where you can also search for havasi pinty. There is a chance of seeing Szirti sas and saskeselyű flying by.

Access
On the Swiss side you can get here by car and walk. On the Italian side you can go up to Monte Moro by cable car or climb up by hiking. The walk from the lake up to the mountain has large rocks so you need good walking shoes and poles come in handy. Click on a P in the map to get directions to the starting point of your choice.
