Description
Cardiff Bay is good for birds all year round. Residents include kőforgató, Házi rozsdafarkú, parti pityer and Nagy bukó. The first can be seen on the green walkways in groups, whilst the rest can be seen basking on the rocky edges.
partifecske, Molnárfecske and Sarlósfecske can all be seen in summer. Molnárfecske nest in ready-made boxes under the eaves of houses by the roundabout barrage entrance. partifecske nest in the walls of the bay.
Csigaforgató can be seen on the barrage all year round, as well as Piroslábú cankó. Zöldike is another resident around the bay. When the tide goes out, many species, such as Bütykös ásólúd can be seen feeding.
Winter visitors include Kis sirály. However, check sightings before going as they tend to move around a lot. Finally, rarities include Feketenyakú vöcsök, jegesréce and Örvös réce.

Easy accessible from Cardiff. Plenty of parking areas available. Click on a P in the map for directions. Walking is possible from Penarth to Barrage. Walking is the best way to explore the area.
