Description
Chief habitats in Elan Valley and Gigrin Kites are: streams and open water, frequented by grebes, Vízirigó and hegyi billegető. The ancient sessile oak woodland is home to Kerti rozsdafarkú, Kormos légykapó, sisegő füzike, Hegyi fakusz, Karvaly and open moorland containing Réti fülesbagoly, Kis sólyom, Nagy póling, Aranylile, Havasi partfutó, Red Grouse, Hantmadár, Mezei pacsirta, cigánycsuk Kékes rétihéja and Holló.

Access
Kite feeding station south of Rhayader feeds daily each afternoon. It has a hide and parking. Reservoirs are west of Rhayader and have several car parks, wetland birds usually at top ends. For a circular drive to see 4 of the 5 reservoirs, keep turning right to follow Elan valley. Claerwen reservoir is a dead end for cars.
