Description
The Solway Firth is an extensive and remote area of saltmarsh, mudflats, sandy coast, dunes and reedbeds attracting a wide range of wetland birds. Breeding and passage waders include Piroslábú cankó, kőforgató, Csigaforgató and Nagy póling. Winter wildfowl and seabirds include Kanalas réce, Csörgo réce, Énekes hattyú, rövidcsőrű lúd, Apácalúd, Kerceréce, Pehelyréce, and divers, grebes, and auks. Also look out for Kis kócsag, Jégmadár, Mezei pacsirta, cigánycsuk and Réti pityer. Otters are possible, plus seals, porpoise and dolphin offshore. At Grune Point the receding sea leaves tidal lagoons ideal for rockpooling.
