Description
The Whitacre Heath reserve contains open water, marsh, willow carr and mature woodland. There are four bird hides. Plants include blue fleabane and southern marsh orchid. There are emperor and chaser dragonflies in summer, and letter hairstreak butterflies.
The Tame valley series of wetlands is an important migration route. 130 bird species have been seen. Birds include Kis vöcsök, Foltos nádiposzáta, cserregő nádiposzáta, Mezei poszáta, Barátposzáta, Jégmadár, Csigaforgató, Küszvágó csér, Sárszalonka, Erdei szalonka and Erdei pityer.

From M42 junction 9, follow A4097 Kingsbury road, first right and right again, through Lea Marston, and reserve entrance is half mile ahead on the right. Nearest train station is at Water Orton, 3 miles away. The route indicated on the map is about 2 km long.
