The Avant-port is a port zone that includes several basins along the river Rhine. It is easy to see the birds from the riverbank. Many Hnúðsvanur and Bleshæna with some Stokkönd and Dílaskarfur year-round, and Skúfönd and Hettumáfur in winter. During a cold winter, Gulönd is sometimes seen.
