Description
Vachiani Lake is one of dozens of lakes on the Javakheti Plateau, but is significant for birdwatching because many species can be seen here at short range. Roðakani and Hrokkinkani forage here regularly in small numbers. Above the water Tígulþerna and Skeggþerna forage together.
During spring many migrant waders like Rúkragi, Veimiltíta and Flóastelkur, pipits and wagtails (Torftittlingur, Mýrerla , Black-headed wagtail and Grey-headed Wagtail (thunbergi)) can be seen on the West side of the lake (1 on the map). If you're lucky you can see Vatnastelkur or Óðinshani here. Sefgoði breed close to shore (2 on the map).
