Description
The Lammershagener Teiche are a complex of several ponds. An area well-developed with paths, allowing one to often get close to the birds. The adjacent old estate forests are rich in birds of prey such as Haförn, Svölugleða, and Gunnfálki. The ponds are interesting for ducks like Skeiðönd, Urtönd, Taumönd, and also Dverggoði. The reed beds are equally interesting with Brúnheiðir, Reyrsöngvari, Síkjasöngvari and Blábrystingur. Also Sefþvari has been observed.
The area is particularly rich in birds during the breeding and migration season. In winter, the water is drained for a while. Then, Trjástelkur and Lindastelkur can be observed. When there is water in the ponds, Álft, Hvítönd and Gulönd can be observed in winter.
The old forests with their ancient oak trees are rich in small birds at any time of year. You can find Fauskspæta, Svartspæta, Grænspæta, Kjarnbítur and Skottmeisa.
