Description
At Gunthorpe Gravel Pits 120+ species of bird have been seen, including Hvítönd, Gulönd and Toppönd in winter, when Vepja, Skeiðönd and teal can be numerous on flooded fields. Spring brings Sefsöngvari, Síkjasöngvari, Engisöngvari to breed, and Kolþerna, Steindepill and Vallskvetta on migration. In summer, Gunnfálki hunt swallows over the ponds.
