Descrizione
The Bengal Florican is one of the rarest bustards in the world, and Cambodia holds the largest remaining population of this critically endangered species. A guided birding trip to the seasonal grasslands of the Tonle Sap floodplain gives you a chance to find this elusive bird. The half-day tour usually starts very early in the morning (around 5:30–6:00 AM), when the grasslands are cool and birds are most active. During the breeding season (February–May), male Bengal Floricans perform a spectacular jumping display flight. Birding is usually done by walking slowly through open grassland tracks or observing from a distance with binoculars and spotting scopes.
Besides Bengal Florican, the grasslands can host several other interesting species such as Sarus Crane, Pied Harrier, Oriental Pratincole, Manchurian Reed Warbler, and Eastern Marsh-Harrier.
