Descrizione
Jerup Strand comprises a flat sandy beach with a single line of dunes, marshland and grazed meadows. It is situated on the shore of the Kattegat north of Frederikshavn. Several species of wader breed in the area, including Beccaccia di mare, Corriere grosso, Pettegola and now and again Avocetta.
Jerup is a stopover site for several duck species, including Fischione and Alzavola. During migrating season other birds arrive, including Smergo minore, Volpoca, Piviere dorato, Pivieressa, Piovanello pancianera, Pavoncella, Piovanello maggiore, Chiurlo maggiore and Gambecchio comune. Now and again, flocks of Oca colombaccio and Oca facciabianca and a few Oca zamperosee stage on the meadows. Oca selvatica can be seen throughout the year.
In winter there are flocks of Piovanello tridattilo running along the sea’s edge, and one can be lucky enough to spot a Gufo di palude over the meadows. Poiana calzata and Albanella reale can also be seen flying over the meadows, together with flocks of Fanello nordico and Zigolo delle nevi. Small flocks of Allodola golagialla and a few Zigolo della Lapponia appear now and then. Falco pellegrino is a regular visitor.
