East of the village of Gliki in the central-western Epirus, the sources of the river Acheron are found. The river where according to the ancient Greeks the gate to Hades was located, the Underworld. The landscape is idyllic and with rich nature and biodiversity. The route starts from the parking lot and continues up opposite but parallel to the river, following a 300m path which leads to the big spring of Acheron. Then the path follows the river into the gorge and crosses it a few times, reaching near the area of Skala Tzavelaina. Birds you can see along the river include Merlo acquaiolo and Ballerina gialla.

Acheron Springs is located east of the village of Gliki in the central-western Epirus. Parking is available in a large car park with nice shops and restaurants. Press P on the map for directions to the parking lot. Note that some days it can get very busy with visitors.
