Zalew Szałe is a good place to observe migrating ducks, such as Fischione, Codone and Alzavola. On the reservoir itself, you can spot many species of gulls, divers, and grebes, such as Strolaga mezzana, Gabbiano reale pontico and Gavina, which breeds here. Rarities such as Gobbo rugginoso, Pittima minore and Gabbiano glauco have appeared on the reservoir.
Szałe isn't just a reservoir, it encompasses everything surrounding it. In the surrounding Winiary forest, you can spot interesting species like Picchio nero, Tottavilla and Rampichino alpestre. Topino and gulls nest readily on the slopes near the reservoir, and in the local fields, you can observe Pavoncella and Torcicollo.
