Descrizione

Located on the mild northern slopes of Dedinje Hill, Hyde Park enjoys a slightly cooler microclimate compared to the usual Belgrade city parks. The park is dominated by deciduous forest, with few conifers scattered through the forest itself and in the gardens of the surrounding households. In front of the Museum of Yugoslavia, there is a clearing with a fountain that usually attracts a variety of birds of semi-open habitats. The street southeast of the fountain leads to a little quiet square that often holds a few surprises, especially in winter.

The park hosts numerous woodpecker and thrush species. Picchio nero, Picchio rosso mezzano, and Picchio rosso maggiore can be found in the main forest, while Picchio verde, Picchio rosso minore, and Picchio rosso di Siria are at the forest edge or around the fountain. Tordela is the park's regular winter guest, usually found in the trees around the fountain and in the northern parts of the forest. Cesena and Tordo sassello can also be found in winter, although they are not regular. For Treecreepers, look around the few confiers scattered deeper into the forest.

In summer, the main forest is full of Merlos and Capineras. During migration, the park is visited by not-so-common species, including Zigolo nero, Bigiarella, Balia nera, Balia dal collare (spring), Luì verde, and Pigliamosche (autumn).

Hyde Park is best visited in March and early April, although winter is also a quite good season.
