Descrizione
The Ermita de San Jose valley is just north of Teguise. The area off the LZ-10 allows a circular walk on fairly flat well defined tracks. It is popular with runners and cyclists so mid-week is usually quieter. Pispola di Berthelot, Averla maggiore, Passera sarda, Gheppio and Corvo imperiale are easily seen. Occhione is regularly heard and sometimes seen. Upupa and Ubara africana are possible.
Occhione and other birds can also be seen above the valley but that does involve a somewhat energetic scramble.

Accesso
The Ermita de San Jose area is located just outside Teguise. I used to park at the back of the school and I assume that is still possible, but staff and students do park there. I now turn off the LZ-10 going towards Haria on the unmade road signed Las Nieves 5 and park either where the unmade road goes right at a crossroads or continue straight at that point and park just after the junction. Access by cycle would be easy and buses go to Teguise. It would then be a relatively short walk to the school and start from there. Press a P on the map for directions.

A telescope might be useful if trying. To see Occhione at the site identified on the west side of the valley, where I have only ever been able to hear them. However I have once seen one on a cultivated part of the valley floor, so they could turn up anywhere.
