Around lake Mattmarksee you can search for one of the most beautiful mountainbirds, the Picchio muraiolo, which likes to live near water. Other birds you can find here are Sordone, Ballerina gialla and Rondone maggiore. From the lake you can walk up the mountain and see Gracchio alpino fouraging in groups near the "refugio", where you can also search for Fringuello alpino. There is a chance of seeing Aquila reale and Gipeto flying by.

On the Swiss side you can get here by car and walk. On the Italian side you can go up to Monte Moro by cable car or climb up by hiking.
