The estuary of the River Axe is full of coastal wading birds such as Pittima minore, Beccaccia di mare, Garzetta and Pettegola, a range of ducks including Mestolone, Fischione and Alzavola, and heathland birds like Luì piccolo, Allodola and Gheppio.
A visit close to high tide is best, forcing birds to high tide roosts and fields/saltmarsh. See a link to the tide table below.
