Descrizione
Duddingston Loch is the only example of a natural freshwater loch in the city of Edinburgh. It is an important site for breeding and wintering wildfowl and includes areas of mixed woodland, scrub, grassland and reedbeds. The Bawsinch and Duddingston Nature Reserve has water birds in plenty, as well as a large colony of Airone cenerino that can be seen nesting in tree tops in spring. Among the birds that can be seen are Porciglione, Svasso maggiore, Moretta, Cigno reale, Tuffetto, Forapaglie comune, Cannaiola, and Capinera. A large number of wildfowl also winter here like Oca zamperosee, Canapiglia, Alzavola and Quattrocchi. Otters can be seen too, if you are lucky.
