Descrizione
Cardiff Bay is good for birds all year round. Residents include Voltapietre, Codirosso spazzacamino, Spioncello marino and Smergo maggiore. The first can be seen on the green walkways in groups, whilst the rest can be seen basking on the rocky edges.
Topino, Balestruccio and Rondone comune can all be seen in summer. Balestruccio nest in ready-made boxes under the eaves of houses by the roundabout barrage entrance. Topino nest in the walls of the bay.
Beccaccia di mare can be seen on the barrage all year round, as well as Pettegola. Verdone is another resident around the bay. When the tide goes out, many species, such as Volpoca can be seen feeding.
Winter visitors include Gabbianello. However, check sightings before going as they tend to move around a lot. Finally, rarities include Svasso piccolo, Moretta codona and Moretta dal collare.
