Descrizione
CEGB Reservoir or Teardrop Lake is a former brick pit. At one time it had a muddy shoreline and a large reedbed, nowadays the water is much deeper so diving birds and terns on passage and a large gull (Laridae) roost are the main targets for the at times numerous birdwatchers.
(1). Be sure to check this area, a Codirosso spazzacamino was found in the car park here in the Winter of 2004 - 2005.
(2). South Shore, with the whole reservoir surrounded by a tarmac path, from here with the sun behind you, you can see the whole area of water (NOTE a telescope is essential).
(3). North End, diving species such as Orchetto marino, Strolaga maggiore and Strolaga minore tend to favour this end, don't forget to check waterside vegetation for Migliarino di palude and Usignolo di fiume. Also in Summer Cannaiola and Forapaglie comune.
(4). South East shore, a favourite spot for geese, a Oca lombardella was found in the past, but more usual today are Oca egiziana and small numbers of Oca facciabianca. Ballerina gialla favour this area and waders such as Pettegola, Piro piro piccolo and Piro piro culbianco occasionally drop in.
