On the islands of Loch Maree Islands National Nature Reserve Strolaga minore and Strolaga mezzana nest. Falco pescatore, Aquila di mare, Aquila reale, Falco pellegrino, Albanella reale, Poiana and Corvo imperiale may be seen overhead. Crociere comune, woodpeckers, Beccaccia, Luì verde, Balia nera and Picchio muratore in the woods. Perhaps Beccofrusone in winter. Pine marten are fairly common in the area and may visit the feeders in the car parks. Red deer, roe deer and red squirrels, possibly wild cat.

There are several parking spots along the main road. The site is 60 miles west of Inverness and 105 miles north of Fort William. Boat trips available from the Maree Hotel.
