Descrizione
Martin Mere is a Site of Special Interest. The name of the centre comes from the mere on the west side of the reserve, which is ringed by more than ten observation hides. This reserve is at its best in winter, attracting huge flocks of Oca zamperosee, Fischione and Alzavola, many Cigno selvatico, and occasional rarer birds such as Oca delle nevi, Fischione americano and Green-winged Teal. It is also excellent for wintering birds of prey such as Albanella reale, Falco pellegrino and Smeriglio. Waders such as Pittima reale, Combattente and Pettegola can be seen from hides as well as rarer smaller birds such as Peppola in the woodlands.
