Mere Sands Wood is a Lancashire Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve. Keep your eyes peeled for species like Ciuffolotto, Passera mattugia, Picchio rosso maggiore and Sparviere as they fly to and from their nests in the woodland. If you take a seat in one of the lakeside hides you may see Svasso maggiore performing their elaborate courtship ritual. Martin pescatore are present as well as wintering Tarabuso. The lakes and reedbeds also support Porciglione, Migliarino di palude, Quattrocchi, Moriglione and more.There are multiple hides, and it's easy walking.
