Descrizione
NWT Ranworth Broad is accessible to all and boasts a great visitor centre (which is open in the spring and summer) with wide views over Ranworth Broad. The broad (lake) itself offers chances to see Svasso maggiore, Martin pescatore and Falco di palude throughout the year, while the boardwalk trail supports Cincia bigia, Ciuffolotto and Porciglione may also be heard.
In winter, the broad will be busy with feeding wildfowl including Fischione, Alzavola, Mestolone, Codone and a few Moretta. In periods of harsh weather, Tarabuso, Moretta grigia and other scarcer species may be seen. The alder trees on the trail from the car park may hold good numbers of Lucherino and Organetto minore.
In summer, there is a chance of seeing a flyover Falco pescatore, but more likely, there will be plenty of Sterna comune feeding over the broad. Large gatherings of Rondine, Balestruccio and Topino may also be seen. Listen out for the songs of Luì piccolo, Forapaglie comune, Cannaiola and even a Cuculo along the boardwalk trail.
