Descrizione
The reservoir is shallow, having only a maximum depth of 9m (30’), which makes it very attractive to both dabbling and diving ducks. It occasionally attracts less common wildfowl, such as Smergo maggiore and Orchetto marino and Svasso collorosso, Svasso piccolo and Svasso cornuto. Waders are often present in spring and autumn, including Combattente, Piro piro culbianco, Beccaccino, Pettegola, Beccaccia di mare and Corriere piccolo. Scaling Dam can also be an excellent place to watch raptors and, from the hide, an eye should always be kept on the moorland plateau and valleys for Albanella reale, Falco di palude, Smeriglio and Falco pellegrino and, if you are extremely lucky, Nibbio reale or Poiana calzata. The site is also good for summer visitors, such as Cuculo, Stiaccino and Luì grosso, and residents like Saltimpalo, Ballerina gialla and Passera mattugia.
There is a hide for birdwatching where you might see Pavoncella, Oca selvatica, Oca canadese, Cigno selvatico and many wading birds.
