Descrizione
Talybont Reservoir has two bird hides, car parking, and a nice cafe in the village. Shallow water, marshland and exposed mud at the top end attract dabbling ducks, waders especially Beccaccia, Beccaccino, Frullino, Airone cenerino, Garzetta and Porciglione in autumn and winter. The woods have Balia nera, Poiana, Allocco, Picchio muratore, Rampichino alpestre and Succiacapre. In the surrounding streams look for Ballerina gialla, Merlo acquaiolo and Saltimpalo. And on the moors may be Chiurlo maggiore, Piviere dorato, Pernice bianca nordica, Corvo imperiale, Pispola and Culbianco . The nearby canal has Martin pescatore.

Between Brecon and Abergavenny. Take the B4558 and turn south in Talybont village. A regular bus service runs through the village, from which it's a 2 mile walk to the reservoir. The circular route up to Tor y Foel is 5 km, with 250 metres of ascent. Stout boots, a hiking pole, snacks, a drink and waterproof clothing are recommended.
