Kanahā Pond Wildlife Sanctuary lets you enter a native Hawaiian landscape and see endangered birds and migrating bird species. Almost 100 bird species have been recorded. The Division of Forestry and Wildlife maintains a fence to exclude alien/introduced predators such as cats, mongooses, rats and alien grazing animals such as deer and pigs.

Kanaha Pond State Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the heart of downtown Kahului. An accessible pathway into the pond, leading to a hide begins from the parking lot on Keolani Place on the west side of the sanctuary. The parking lot and gate is open daily from sunrise to sunset. Trails starting at the east side of the pond from the Amala Place gates are open daily from sunrise to sunset, from August 31st to March 31st when birds are not nesting.
