Description

Grudavatnet is a protected wetland on the Jæren plain, in the lower part of the Figgjo River. It is the core of Grudevatn naturreservat, established in 1974 to safeguard a distinctive wetland habitat and its rich birdlife. The wetland is surrounded by reed marshes and wet meadows and sits within an open agricultural landscape. Despite its modest size, the lake functions as a crucial breeding site, staging area, and winter refuge for birds. During dry periods, especially in spring and summer, the water level is often low, and large areas of mud become exposed, which provides good feeding conditions for many birds.

Nearly 200 bird species have been recorded in the area. You can find many species of geese, ducks, waders and meadow birds. Among the birds you can observe are жолтоклун лебед, гусковидна патка, патка ластовичарка, патка крецка, четириока патка, голем северен нуркач, остригар, црвенонога тринга, црна тринга, голем српоклун свиркач, црноопашна блатарка, обична бекасина, бојник, шумска тринга, зеленонога тринга, калуѓерка and среден пескар.
