Description
Fleet Pond (pond in this instance is the old term for man made lake), is large and fairly shallow, with reedbeds, marshland, heathland and woodland comprising of Alder (Alnus), Birch (Betula) and Oak (Quercus). The site has a long list of birds for an inland site and is probably the best place to see црна рибарка in Southern England. Some other birds you can expect are трскар рогозар, градинарско грмушарче, полски трскар, планинско ливадарче, обично грмушарче, сива чапја, црна лиска, цуцулест нуркач, мал нуркач, цуцулест кожувар, сива патка, патка лажичарка, патка берија, црвеноглав кожувар, обична бекасина, калуѓерка, шарена тринга, мал пескар, речна тринга, црноопашна блатарка, Bar-tailed Godwit, зеленонога тринга, остригар and сокол ластовичар. The site has had a number of rareties over the years (see Extra Info below). You can make a circular walk around Fleet Pond (about 4 km).

Access
The M3 motorway is just to the North of the site, from either direction leave M3 at junction 4a signed Farnborough (W) A327/Fleet (A3013). Continue on this road eventually following signs to Fleet A3013/Cove, continue on A3013 following signs to Fleet/Fleet Pond, continue on A3013 (also called Cove Road) and turn Left at (Brown) sign Fleet Pond. Cross bridge over railway line and turn Right along rough road to car park (Note height restriction). Alternatively use railway station car park (Fee Payable), see P on map.
