Description
Large common located around the windblown dunes of Penhale Sands and the remains of St Piran's Oratory, one of the oldest and most important sacred sites in Britain. The area has Sand Dunes, a stream and ponds. Out of holiday season it's a nice quiet place to walk. Lots of wildflowers and different habitats. Natural springs form in autumn and winter creating ponds. Lots of nesting birds in spring and large flocks of конопјарче during summer. Among the other birds you can see are Сребренест галеб, билбилче, зимовка, црвеногушка, обично попче, полска чучулига, Rock Pipit, глувчар, Обична (Црнонокна) ветрушка, планинско ливадарче, ќос and дрозд пејач.

Access
From Goonhavern take the B3285, turn off at the sign for the Lost Church. Parking spaces are available on the side of the road. There are several entrances on to the Common. The right hand side is better for birds as it is usually quieter. On the map you see a circular walk of 6 km, but there are many other walks possible and you can easily make the walk longer or shorter.
