Pink Lake, or Hutt Lagoon, near Port Gregory on Western Australia's Coral Coast, is famous for its vibrant pink, red, or purple hues, caused by salt-loving algae.
It also can hold good numbers of shorebirds including trans-equatorial migratory waders. Banded Stilt can occur here in numbers; as well, Red-necked Avocet, Red-capped Plover, Sharp-tailed Sandpiper and Red-necked Stint may be observed.
Recently rare Red-necked Phalarope has also been found.
