The Sundet area is easily accessible, and due to the varied biotopes, many different birds can be seen in a relatively limited area. 190 different birds have been recorded in the area (2024). The hiking trail 'Fynske ø-havstien' goes through the area and allows for an extended walk, in the nature around the lake.
In the lake breeds, among others, Fuut , Krakeend , Tafeleend and Kuifeend, and in winter large groups of Kuifeend and Slobeend can be seen. In the reedbed, the Waterhoen and Waterral breed, all year around there is Baardman and in spring, Kleine Karekiet , Bosrietzanger and Rietgors also arrive. The area also hosts Blauwe Reiger and Grote Zilverreiger . Birds of prey can be seen flying over the area, most frequently Torenvalk , Buizerd and Zeearend .

Lake Sundet is located immediately to the east of the town of Faaborg. There are several parking options in the area. The chosen parking is at Sundbrinkens børnehus, where there is an electric car charging station. The site is suitable for both walking and cycling. The largest part is a gravel path, but also an area with a paved cycle path, which is separated from car traffic. The circular route around the lake is about 3 km.
The extended route of 4,65 km, is only for walking, and is known as the most beautiful exercise track in Denmark. Follow the signs, see the picture below. See GPX file.
