The Étang de l'Or is a large, shallow coastal lagoon that stretches approximately 11 kilometers in length and 3 kilometers in width, covering around 2,960 hectares. Some birds come to overwinter here, such as the Witwangstern and Blauwe Kiekendief. The various ponds host a variety of birds, including passerines in the reedbeds and various ducks, swans, and Flamingo.

Certains oiseaux viennent hiverner ici tel que la Guifette Moustac, Busard Saint Martin. Les différents étangs accueil une variété d'oiseaux tel que les passeraux dans les roselières et les differents canards, cygnes, flamant rose.

Étang de l'Or is located south of the town of Mauguio, close to the Mediterranean coast, near the city of Montpellier. From Montpellier, it’s about a 15–20 minute drive east. You can take the D62 or D613 roads towards Mauguio and then follow local signs to the Étang de l'Or nature areas. Press P on the map for directions to the parking lot close to the lake.
