Beschrijving
More than a hundred different bird species breed in the nature reserve. The Zwillbrocker Venn is home to the largest Kokmeeuw colony in Germany, with around 15,000 counted birds. It is also the most northerly located breeding ground for a colony of Flamingo. Also Chilean Flamingo breed in the area. This colony of Chilean Flamingo once started with feral birds that have escaped from captivity.

For the starting point for the Zwillbrocker Venn hiking route, park at Hotel zum Kloppendiek, in Zwillbrock (Germany) just across the border from the dutch town of Groenlo. You can walk to the observation hide Zwillbrocker Venn Ost and observation hide Zwillbrocker Venn West.
