Beschrijving

Ruaha National Park is located just south of the central midpoint of Tanzania. The national park encompasses an area of 20,226 square km, making it the largest national park in Tanzania. Ruaha is a birders paradise with over 570 species of birds found within the park. Hornbills, raptors, bee-eaters, rollers, and many other birds. The park is also home to the rare Eleonora's Falcon during the months of December and January.

Ruaha National Park is a relatively flat area with many dirtroads making it easy to cover large areas with lots of different birds. Tanzanian Red-billed Hornbill is an endemic bird to be seen here, named after the park ruahae. Other Tanzanian endemics that can be observed here are Ashy Starling and Yellow-collared Lovebird. Among the other birds that can be spotted are Superb Starling, African Fish-eagle, Meyer's Parrot, Southern Ground-Hornbill, Rufous-crowned Roller and Lilac-breasted Roller.
