The Groene Bijeneter breeds in Asia, Northern Africa, and the Middle East. They also do so in eastern Turkey. They nest solitarily or in loose colonies of up to ten birds. They sometimes nest in colonies with Bijeneter. The dry and open surroundings of the hamlet of Hüyüklü are a good spot to see Groene Bijeneter. They are summer guests and breed in the area. Other birds you can see in the area are Bijeneter, Palmtortel, Zomertortel, Scharrelaar, Hop, Zwarte Frankolijn, Arendbuizerd, Zwarte Wouw, Syrische Bonte Specht, Tapuit, Finsch' Tapuit and Gestreepte Prinia.
