Beschrijving
Cardiff Bay is good for birds all year round. Residents include Steenloper, Zwarte Roodstaart, Oeverpieper and Grote Zaagbek. The first can be seen on the green walkways in groups, whilst the rest can be seen basking on the rocky edges.
Oeverzwaluw, Huiszwaluw and Gierzwaluw can all be seen in summer. Huiszwaluw nest in ready-made boxes under the eaves of houses by the roundabout barrage entrance. Oeverzwaluw nest in the walls of the bay.
Scholekster can be seen on the barrage all year round, as well as Tureluur. Groenling is another resident around the bay. When the tide goes out, many species, such as Bergeend can be seen feeding.
Winter visitors include Dwergmeeuw. However, check sightings before going as they tend to move around a lot. Finally, rarities include Geoorde Fuut, IJseend and Ringsnaveleend.
