The Deben Estuary is a nationally and internationally significant wintering area for up to 6,000 Goudplevier, 600 Grutto, Tureluur and 400+ Kluut. Also Bonte Strandloper, Kanoet, Zilverplevier and Kievit. Brilduiker at Martlesham Creek and IJsduiker at Ramsholt. Fuut, Kuifduiker, Geoorde Fuut and Waterral possible. Small flock of Frater most winters. High tides are best for seeing roosting waders, check tide times and height first (see the link below). Take care not to get cut off by exceptionally high tides.

From Ipswich take A12 to Woodbridge then various minor roads to Waldringfield on south bank or Bawdsey on north bank. Boat hire available Woodbridge or Waldringfield.
