Beschrijving
Fleet Pond (pond in this instance is the old term for man made lake), is large and fairly shallow, with reedbeds, marshland, heathland and woodland comprising of Alder (Alnus), Birch (Betula) and Oak (Quercus). The site has a long list of birds for an inland site and is probably the best place to see Zwarte Stern in Southern England. Some other birds you can expect are Kleine Karekiet, Tuinfluiter, Sprinkhaanzanger, Roodborsttapuit, Grasmus, Blauwe Reiger, Meerkoet, Fuut, Dodaars, Kuifeend, Krakeend, Slobeend, Wintertaling, Tafeleend, Watersnip, Kievit, Witgat, Kleine Plevier, Oeverloper, Grutto, Rosse Grutto, Groenpootruiter, Scholekster and Boomvalk. The site has had a number of rareties over the years (see Extra Info below). You can make a circular walk around Fleet Pond (about 4 km).
