In winter thousands of Spreeuw arrive to roost in the reedbeds at dusk often performing spectacular murmurations. During spring The ‘boom’ of the male Roerdomp can be heard echoing across the reserve and flying females bringing food to their young. Swallows, swifts, Oeverzwaluw and Boomvalk arrive from Africa - up to 30 Boomvalk may be seen in the air at one time.
